During Howard County Restaurant Week from January 22nd- February 4th, I encourage patrons to explore both established and emerging restaurants. Our community’s openness to multicultural cuisine makes Howard County both a rewarding place to eat out and a destination county for the food industry. We also celebrate fresh additions like the Blackwall Barn and Lodge in Columbia, who will host our beloved Jazzy New Year event tomorrow.

What is the Catalyst Fund? 

The Catalyst Fund, powered by HCEDA, is an integral part of Maryland's Video Lottery Terminal Small, Minority, and Woman-Owned Business Account initiative. Its mission is clear – to provide access to capital for startups and expanding businesses throughout the state, fostering job creation and private sector investment. As a Revolving Loan Fund (RLF), the Catalyst Fund ensures a continuous cycle of support, as repayments from previous loans are reinvested to benefit more businesses.

How Can the Catalyst Fund Benefit Your Business?

1. Access to Capital: Bridging gaps in existing funding options, the Catalyst Fund offers loans at market rates or below.
2. Collateral Assistance: New to the mix is the Collateral Assistance Fund, exclusively available to Howard County businesses. This fund provides valuable support for companies striving to meet collateral requirements to secure a Catalyst loan.
