LASARRUS Secures Major Investment from TEDCO

Pitch and Mingle: The Lucky Pitch LASARRUS

LASARRUS, the company that recently won our Pitch and Mingle event, has received a significant investment from TEDCO, Maryland's renowned economic engine for technology companies.


TEDCO has pledged a $50,000 Pre-Seed Builder Fund investment in LASARRUS, recognizing the company's dedication to supporting Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patients. This investment is part of TEDCO's Social Impact Funds, aimed at empowering economically underserved founders and communities.


LASARRUS, led by co-founder, CEO and chief technology officer Lloyd Emokpae, is pioneering innovative solutions in the medical industry. Their flagship product, WearME, is a groundbreaking wearable device designed for remote monitoring of COPD patients. 


We celebrate LASARRUS's achievement and look forward to witnessing their continued success in revolutionizing healthcare. Together, we can make a real impact in the lives of COPD patients.

2024 Money Matters Workshop

The 2024 Money Matters Workshop is taking place on April 13, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Howard Community College, hosted by the Howard County Executive's Office. This event promises to be an enriching experience focused on financial empowerment, and we're excited to announce that HCEDA is partnering and will have a dedicated table there. We will have information about our mentors, BRITE classes and financial programs.


Whether you're looking to improve your financial knowledge, manage debt or plan for the future, this workshop offers something for everyone.

The new Maryland Tax Connect portal now has more than 80,000 businesses already registered.

To ensure that you and your network have familiarity with the new tax portal for business, the Comptroller of Maryland is offering a new ongoing webinar series.


Throughout March and April, join the expert-led webinars designed to guide you through Maryland Tax Connect’s key features. Learn how to navigate the portal and get answers to common questions. Celebrating 15 Years of Sustainability Excellence!

In celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week (May 19 - 25), the Maryland Office of Tourism Development is honoring the visionaries and trailblazers who have positively impacted Maryland's economy.


We're excited to announce the Maryland Tourism Entrepreneurs of the Year Program. If you're a tourism entrepreneur in Howard County, you could be selected and showcased as one of the Entrepreneurs of the Year. Submit your business information by April 11, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. to be considered.  Please see below to decide if you meet the criteria. 



Selection criteria:

  1. The entrepreneur’s tourism business must have existed for at least 5 years.

  2. Their business must have at least doubled in revenue since opening.

  3. Their business must have expanded its location and/or services to multiple locations within your area or throughout the state.

  4. Their business must have a 5-year, strategic plan in place for continued growth.


Selected entrepreneurs will be recognized during the NTTW Governor’s Proclamation Event at the Baltimore Convention Center on May 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.


Celebrating 15 Years of Sustainability Excellence!

The Maryland Green Registry is celebrating its 15th year of supporting and recognizing the successes of Maryland businesses and organizations of all types on their path to sustainability. 

      

The annual Sustainability Leadership Awards help highlight these achievements by recognizing up to five member organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainable practices, measurable results and continual improvement. Winners will be recognized at an event the first week of June and promoted through social media and other outlets on "Winner Wednesdays" throughout June and July.
