A group of Howard County high school students is gaining valuable experience at the Maryland Innovation Center through a groundbreaking apprenticeship program. Sponsored by Health Tech Alley and the Maryland Apprenticeship Connector, this initiative focuses on data analytics and artificial intelligence.
"We aim for students to be employable right out of high school," says Nathan Garcia, program manager at Health Tech Alley. This year, five students were selected to learn how to use AI to drive business efficiency and growth.
Manpreet Singh from Glenelg High School shares, "I can land an entry-level job right after high school, which isn’t possible in many other fields." Greg Miller, executive director at Health Tech Alley, adds, "We want to invest in our youth and expand this model across the county and state."
This program is redefining apprenticeships in technology, helping students like Tyrese Johnson from Oakland Mills High School realize their potential. "It’s opened my eyes to what I can achieve," he says.
