Agriculture and Agritourism: Economic Drivers for Howard County

Nearly a quarter of Howard County’s land is dedicated to agriculture—an enduring part of our heritage and a vital force in our future. This year, the launch of the Howard County Office of Agriculture marked a new chapter in support for farming, entrepreneurship and agritourism.

With programs like the Agricultural Grant for Innovation and Expansion (AGIE) and Howard County Enhanced Agricultural Grant, Howard County is growing something deeper than crops—it’s cultivating connection between land, people, and opportunity.

Located at West Friendship Park, the new office serves as a hub for farmer support, community engagement and program coordination. It brings together key partners—including HCEDA—to strengthen the local agricultural economy and expand opportunities for hands-on learning, rural recreation and farm-based experiences.
