Business Resource Expo: Tools, Training and Connections for Federal Workers and Entrepreneurs

We’re excited to see you at the Business Resource Expo (BRE) on October 23, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Maryland Innovation Center. This free event connects federal workers, entrepreneurs and small business owners with the tools and insights they need to grow or launch their next venture.

Two breakout sessions will offer hands-on guidance:

Perfect Your Lending Docs (9:30 a.m.) Learn how to strengthen your financial documents and improve your chances of securing funding. Participants will receive real-time feedback from financial experts including James Gorman (M&T Bank), Jeanne Keller (Pinnacle Financial Partners) and William Rovito (Finance EIR).

BRITE 2.0 Info Session (10:30 a.m.)

The newly revamped Business Revitalization Initiative Through Entrepreneurship (BRITE) programs provides early-stage startups and seasoned businesses in Howard County with direct pathways to entrepreneurial success. Assistant Director Justin Shaw will introduce training, resources and partnerships designed to help entrepreneurs and transitioning federal workers build sustainable businesses.

Cyber Howard’s 2nd Cohort Ignites Innovation and Growth

We kicked off the Cyber Howard Accelerator’s 2nd cohort with a full luncheon gathering of startups, mentors and ecosystem leaders.

These accomplished cyber entrepreneurs bring bold ideas, expertise and fresh energy. We can’t wait to see the new tools, services, teams they build and the impact they’ll have on security, business growth and innovation.

Howard County is proud to be home to one of the nation’s strongest cyber ecosystems and this program helps sharpen solutions, refine go-to-market strategy and build real connections to buyers, investors and partners.

Kimetec Expands Through Global Gateway

We’re thrilled to welcome Kimetec to the Maryland Innovation Center as part of their U.S. expansion through the Global Gateway Program.

Headquartered in Germany, Kimetec develops innovative medtech solutions designed to improve healthcare outcomes through advanced technology and research. Their presence at the Maryland Innovation Center reflects the strength of Howard County’s growing role as an international hub for innovation, collaboration and entrepreneurship.

Through the Global Gateway program, we continue to connect international companies with the resources, partnerships and market insights they need to succeed in the United States.

Maryland Innovation Center Welcomes Chinese Trade Delegation

We were honored to welcome representatives from the Chinese Embassy and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) to the Maryland Innovation Center in Howard County. 

The delegation’s visit provided an opportunity to explore pathways for foreign direct investment and continued collaboration through programs like Global Gateway, which helps international companies establish and grow in Maryland.
