AIM Maryland Expands with Support from HCEDA’s Catalyst Loan

We were proud to celebrate the expansion of Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine of Maryland (AIM Maryland), a woman-owned health and wellness practice serving patients across Maryland and beyond.

Congratulations to AIM owner, Kristin Huza for her 17 years of service in Howard County and her commitment to helping patients manage chronic pain through acupuncture and modern integrative treatments.

With support from an HCEDA Catalyst Loan, AIM Maryland purchased a larger commercial condo on Twin Knolls Road, allowing the practice to grow from four treatment rooms to eight and retain its talented team right here in Columbia.

AIM Maryland continues to bring compassionate, evidence-guided care to residents seeking relief from chronic conditions, and we’re excited to see this next chapter unfold.

Something New Every Single Day--Howard County Library System

Every day, the Howard County Library System opens doors to opportunity, from financial literacy and workforce skills to enrichment programs that prepare residents for the future. And now there’s even bigger momentum to match that mission.

This week, major legislation advancing affordable housing and the new HCLS Central Branch at the Columbia Lakefront passed with strong bipartisan support. The vote clears the way for land acquisition, design work and long-planned progress that strengthens both the library system and the economic future of Downtown Columbia.

This short video highlights how HCLS continues to evolve as a driver of inclusion and innovation. From children exploring robotics to entrepreneurs gathering for small business programs, the library provides the resources and community that help people move forward. Watch and see how these new investments will amplify a system already building a stronger, more resilient Howard County.

Cyber Howard Accelerator Tackles Sales Channels with Real-World Insight

Another strong session for our Cyber Howard Accelerator cohort this week. Our meeting  focused on Sales Channels: MSP, Federal and Partnerships, featuring insights from Theresa Dessaso from Trimia, Inc and Chuck Bubeck from LBK Partners, LLC.

The group dug into the full landscape of sales and partner pathways — from how MSP/MSSP channels operate, to navigating the federal marketplace, to identifying strategic partnerships that can shorten sales cycles and reduce early marketing costs. Chuck also shared real-world lessons from his experience running MSP operations, giving founders a grounded look at what it takes to grow in this space.

And for early-stage founders ready to turn ideas into real traction, the HoCo Higher Accelerator offers a ten-week program focused on the fundamentals of building a sustainable business. Participants gain expert instruction, practical tools and a supportive cohort to help them grow.

Both programs strengthen Howard County’s pipeline of founders and support businesses at every stage of their journey.

Greenway Farms Brings Holiday Magic to Howard County

Greenway Farms in Woodbine is a seasonal favorite for holiday greenery. The farm specializes in Christmas trees and cut flowers, giving families a hands-on way to choose fresh plants and bring home a little winter magic.

As residents pick out trees, wreaths and festive blooms, they’re also supporting a local farm that keeps Howard County’s agricultural economy strong. HCEDA celebrates farms like Greenway that make the season brighter while sustaining the roots of our rural community.
