Investing in the Next Generation of Talent

We recently welcomed our Summer Internship Program participants with a day of learning, networking, and professional development at the Maryland Innovation Center.

The program introduced interns to the summer ahead through program orientation, workplace communication training, a tour of the Innovation Center, and opportunities to connect with our team at the Howard County Economic Development Authority, the Maryland Innovation Center, and MIC member companies.

By providing hands-on experience and meaningful professional connections, our internship program helps develop the next generation of talent while strengthening Howard County's workforce and supporting the businesses that drive our local economy.

Meet the Newest Members of Our Team

We're excited to welcome three new team members who bring extensive experience in economic development, business finance, and industry engagement to our organization.

Janice Walker-Emeogo joins us as Senior Business Development Manager, where she will lead business attraction, retention, expansion, and strategic partnerships. With more than 20 years of experience in economic development, workforce development, banking, and public policy, Janice will help strengthen Howard County's business community and drive long-term growth.

Darla Garrett joins us as Small Business Lending Analyst, supporting financial loan analysis, underwriting, portfolio management, and borrower relations. Her more than two decades of experience in public-sector economic development and lending programs will help expand access to capital for Howard County's small businesses.

Connor Wheeler joins our Business Development team as Business Development Representative – Life Sciences. Connor will support Howard County's life sciences, biotechnology, and MedTech industries by connecting businesses with the resources they need to grow and succeed.

Please join us in welcoming Janice, Darla, and Connor to the team!
